Real Ceremonies by Sonal Dave

The ceremony for Liz and Paul was set in the most inspirational setting with a train, suitcases and more. It felt like we were in a scene from Harry Potter. In their ceremony, we included readings from close friends, the couple's story, shared promises, the ring exchange and the handfasting ritual.

Meet Liz & Paul

Liz shared that:

Paul is kind, funny and outgoing. He would help anyone in need to the best of his ability without a second thought. I remember him once walking out into the road to stop traffic in Bramhall in order to help an elderly lady cross the road safely. He is extremely clever and is a natural at engineering, the subject of his PhD, and yet is not big-headed but rather always open to learning more about the world. He cares deeply about the well-being of those around him and has checked in regularly with friends and colleagues during the pandemic, especially those who have been going through hard times. Paul helps to balance out some of my seriousness and introspection. We share a silly sense of humour and can laugh at the daftest things, whether that’s a game of Cards Against Humanity or hiding our gormless-looking squirrel statue around the house for each other to find. Over the years, Paul has helped me to become more confident with his belief in me; his support and encouragement mean the world to me.

Paul shared that:

Liz and I are quite Yin and Yang, and we tend to balance each other out quite well. Liz is a deep thinker, perceptive, and generous with her energy, especially with the local community/writers groups. Liz is very good with words so she is very witty, she wrote a poem when we had been dating for a little while and it just summed us up perfectly. Unfortunately, she is too modest to allow me to share it with anyone. Liz is surprisingly geeky, as an accountant and engineer we both appreciate a good spreadsheet. She is so creative, not only with her writing, but she also makes her own clothes and guinea pig furniture. She made face masks for a lot of friends and family at the start of the pandemic. She is the person I’m most relaxed around. We can set each other off laughing with the silliest things. Emotionally she is the strongest person I know, losing her dad was so tough but she came through it as a more confident person and much surer in who she was. She has also brought many pets into our lives, which I wouldn’t have previously thought I could get attached to. She has definitely made me a better person, much calmer and more thoughtful.

Testimonial

Sonal wrote and carried out our celebrant-led ceremony at our wedding last month. My husband and I could not be happier with her services. Right from the start, Sonal was friendly and professional and took the time to get a feel for who we both are and what makes our relationship unique. She gave us several ideas for elements that could be included within the service and gave us guidance on how to incorporate a handfasting once we had decided on including one. We have had so many comments from our guests on how beautiful and personal the wording of our ceremony was, and that is all down to Sonal. She is just brilliant at what she does, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a celebrant.

Aarthi and Phil Multicultural Celebrant Wedding Ceremony

Their wedding was an outdoor wedding at Folly Farm. It was the hottest day of that year, and the views we had as we were up on a hill were amazing. Everyone looked amazing, and the wedding ceremony was full of colour, from the flowers to the outfits.
